Woman Sentenced For Murdering Her Newborn
Shauna Perry, 24, was sentenced to 21 months in jail for killing her newborn son three years ago.
Perry has long maintained she didn't even know she was pregnant in the spring of 2002. She claims she passed out, in her parents' bathroom during labor and when she came to - her baby was dead.
She then hid his remains in a garbage bag inside a family closet.
Perry later pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
Perry's attorney lobbied for a sentence that amounted to a 12-month work release program, claiming the young mother had a psychological condition where she basically blocked out the pregnancy and the birth. Total denial.
Investigators believe Perry knew exactly what she was doing. They argue that she spent countless hours on her computer visiting pregnancy, home birth and abortion websites. These are things, they say, someone in complete denial wouldn't do.
WOW just think, she could have aborted it right before giving birth and she would be free!
